Shout Out to you this year
Here’s a New Year’s resolution for everyone that is about to make the same promise to yourself that you have made over and over again. This year 2014 how about you find you. When I say find you I don’t mean be prideful or arrogant and think you got everything under control in your life, when it’s clear that you don’t. I mean take a long hard look in the mirror and figure out your identity. Have you reached your dreams? (Why, Why Not) Are you reaching for your dreams? (Why, Why Not) Have you forgot about your dreams or have you flat out given up on your dreams? Do you believe that all things are possible for you? Do you spend more time watching someone else live their lives on T.V then you do living your own? Do you know that ins and outs of the good bad and ugly of celebrities issues, while not being able to recognize your own (Were all messed up by the way)? Do you have a closet full of J’s and no car (Side eye)? Do you get a brand new due every two weeks and have no job (Eye Roll)? Maybe none of those apply, maybe you have a great job and can afford luxuries Great. My question to you now is how’s the condition of your soul? Is it on the right path (but that’s not the point of this blog)? The point of this blog isn’t me pointing the finger at you but you pointing the finger at yourself (Hi person in the mirror). Tell me why are you here on planet earth? What is your contribution to the human existence? What is it that you are uniquely created for? It doesn’t have to be sports, it doesn’t have to be entertainment, it doesn’t have to be art, and it doesn’t even have to exist yet. You’re probably just a really loyal friend (never have too many of those), maybe you’re a great parent (there’s a shortage), maybe whenever people come around you they instantly get inspired to be the best them that they can be. Only you can answer those questions. If you know the answer to those questions what are you doing to capitalize your talents? Are you moving in your gift (I believe in you by the way)? If you don’t know the answer to those questions (its ok not too right now) my advice to you is stop turning up and start turning off. Turn off the TV, Turn off the Radio, Turn off your Past, Turn off your Present, Turn off your Friends turn everything off.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. (Romans 12:2 NIV)
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. (Jeremiah 29:11 NIV)
What is a resolution anyways
1. The state or quality of being resolute; purposeful (see Jeremiah 29:11)
2. A resolving to do something.“ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” (Mark 9:23 NIV)
3. A course of action determined or decided on.
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9 NIV),
He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen. (Revelation 22:20, 21 NIV)
4. A formal statement of a decision or expression of opinion put before or adopted by an assembly.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16 NIV)
A resolution without Jesus is an empty promise. First we must understand whose we are. Identity equals authority. Dreams, goals, hopes start with identity. A dream cannot be based on a lie, Goals cannot stand on shaky Ground, and hope cannot partner with doubt.. This year understand God is not only with you but God is for you. Find yourselves, be yourselves, love yourselves. Everything else will fall in place.
HAPPY NEW YEARS
